1. Major¹ Waters was born on 7 Feb 1771. He married Patsy Wells, daughter of Samuel Wells, on 19 Nov 1809 at Jefferson Co., KY. He married Rachel Sullivan, daughter of Jeremiah Sullivan, on 19 Dec 1819 at Jefferson Co., KY. He died on 8 Jun 1854 at Middletown, Jefferson Co., KY, at age 83.
He Major Waters served in the War of 1812 as a Private from 12 Nov 1814 to 10 May 1815. He served under Captain Ziba Holt's Company, Kentucky Detached Militia which was commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel John Davis. A Bounty Land Application for 80 acres was applied for by Major Waters on December 5, 1850 following the passage of the "Act granting Bounty Land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the Military Service of the United States" which was passed September 28, 1850. The Bounty Land Warrant was eventually issued to Rachel Waters on May 14, 1878. The Widow's Pension request contains the information that Major Waters was 6 feet high, had fair complexion and sandy or light hair. It also states that he served in the Battle of New Orleans and was discharged from New Orleans. Major Waters served in the war as a substitute. Major Waters' Bounty Land Application states that he entered his service in Middletown for a period of six months and continued in service for a period of nine months.

Rachel Sullivan was born circa 1795 at KY. She died on 1 Aug 1888. Rachel Waters filed for a pension for her husband's service in the War of 1812. Her Widow's Application number is W.O.14791 and her Widow's Certificate number is W.C.7961. The act authorizing the granting of pension for the War of 1812 was passed on March 9, 1878. Her application was filed on April 9, 1878 and the pension was granted on August 12, 1878. A Bounty Land Warrant was issued May 14, 1878. The Bounty Land was originally applied for by Major Waters December 5, 1850.

The 1900 and the 1910 census each show Lawrence as married so this cannot be used as an indication of whether Luella was still living because: 1) both are wrong or she was living elsewhere in 1900, 2) both are wrong and she had already died before the 1900 census, 3) only the 1910 census is wrong and she dies after 1900, or 4) they are divorced and she dies after the 1910 census.
